Ok so I am sick and fucking tired of people thinking they can make a valid argument against gay marriage. What is there to argue? The only thing that matters is that two people wants to join themselves in the bonds of matrimony. It doesn’t matter whether they are man and man, man and woman, woman and woman, transgendered, hermaphrodite, blue, green or purple! They are PEOPLE! People are basically telling other people that they are lesser and less significant because of who they have sex with. Really? Really? Now I get if those in question were rapists or pedophiles and they had sex with people who didn’t have sex back. Now that would really suck. However we aren’t talking about rapists and pedophiles, we are talking about everyday average people. We are talking about the guy next door who always brings your mail in for you, the lady down the street who sings when she walks her dog, your favorite teacher in school, the policeman who saved you from that burglar, your sibling or cousin, or the soldier who goes to die for you whether they believe in the war they fight in or not. All of these people you believe don’t have the same rights as you? They don’t deserve to be happy like you? They shouldn’t be able to go into the ER with the love of their life as they lie in mortal pain? Can anyone out there really look me in the eye and say that the person that you love most in the world shouldn’t have the right to say goodbye to you as you pass away? And if anyone out there can look me in the eye and say that then I hope you choke on a pretzel you arrogant, racist, dickface asshole! (no pun intended) Why is there so much fear about gay marriage? Why so much censor? I’m sorry to say but the world we live in isn’t based on the Bible. OH MY GOD!!! NO SHE DIDN’T!!!!! Oh but I did Bitches!
Public service announcement: The Bible is an old book that has been rewritten countless times by potentially corruptible and fallible men which is why there are so many versions of the Bible.
I know I know. Blasphemy. Eh I can accept that. I know you probably think I’m a religion-less soul with no possibility of salvation. Well firstly, that description sounds like I just committed murder and secondly, I’m as religious as the next person. I just have my own mind and I won’t let myself be weak because of the words in an old book.
I mean I believe in Jesus and his teachings; however, I don’t believe that Jesus directly said anything about gay marriage. Don’t believe me? Pick up your pocket bible and check. All of the other accounts in the bible are kinda just hearsay. Some good and some bad. Would God, a man willing to sacrifice his own son for mankind, really hate gay people so much as to consider them lesser beings? Jesus died on the cross for all of mankind. Not just some of us. But all of us. If yall don’t get my connection about lesser beings let me explain it. I, as a heterosexual female, can date a man of my choosing. I can become engaged to that man and I can legally marry that man in a ceremony of my choosing. Someone else, as a homosexual woman, can date a woman of her choosing. She can become engaged to that woman but she may not legally marry that woman. So since she can do less than me as a human being that would make her a lesser human being. All of this reminds me of another time in history where some were considered lesser beings a.k.a unequal. Actually it reminds me of many times in history, especially in America. Remember the Civil Rights Movement? No? How about Women’s Suffrage? Still drawing a blank? Hmmm let’s go waaaaaay back (or really recent depending on the country) Slavery ring a bell? Ahhh I see I gotcha there.
Speaking of slaves. Black people/the black church….really? Yall are gonna act all crazy because Obama supports gay marriage. For the first time in my life I feel shame in my race. I would think that out of anyone, minorities could understand what our gay brethren are going through. Black people we have been oppressed for HUNDREDS of years and now you want to become the oppressors? you want to deny someone else’s rights after all the work it took to gain our own. I feel that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would be ashamed to see that the peoples he lived and died for would stoop so low as to oppress another. I cry for the shame you have brought upon colored people. I speak to all minorities. We have all been oppressed by someone at sometime. Not to pick on America but this country has oppressed and denied rights to each and every one of us historically. Now you support the denial of someone else’s rights? How have you stooped so low?
As a kid, I never thought, “when I grow up I want to learn to hate people for circumstances out of their control”. But this is what we are teaching our children. They learn from us. They see our example and sometimes they are not strong enough or wise enough to seek alternatives to their upbringing. They trust in us completely and with their trust we teach them to hate. It’s not right. We need to teach and preach love for all human beings, not just the ones who look like us.
I’m not even sure why we use the term “gay people.” I’m not going to classify people. We are all people. Wasn’t the Constitution written to protect the people and some of us are letting one little word like “gay” get in the way of that. If it doesn’t effect you then why do you care. Think of it this way. When I die and I am standing at the gates of Heaven awaiting my judgement, I will have no fear for my after-life. Only my God can judge me, not anyone around me, only Him. And know that he will also judge you. Will you stand there like me or will you beg forgiveness for getting all of his messages wrong? Gay is a ward. An adjective used to describe people. People is a noun. Let’s go with people from now on.
